Unfortunately there will be some who will develop PTSD or cPTSD associated with their relationship with an abuser.⠀
⠀
If this happens -- get a proper evaluation to determine if you have the condition and be under the care of a specialist. Not all providers are created equal, so finding the right one might take a bit of work, however will be worth it.⠀

Sometimes when we love someone we can get caught up in overanalyzing when trying to make the decision to remove them from our lives.⠀
⠀
But here's the thing, sometimes a simple question can open the door to what your body and emotions have to say about the matter. ⠀
⠀
And often those avenues have already made the decision for you.⠀
⠀
Emotions and physical responses of the body are not into figuring out if they are a narcissist, a psychopath, etc.⠀
⠀
Emotions and physical avenues of our beings already know that this person makes us feel awful (or not).⠀
⠀
So when you are with someone... anyone - Just ask yourself: "How does this person make me feel when I spend time with them?"⠀
⠀
Just know that the presence of the trauma bond will complicate this… but your brain is still capable/ able to let you know that this person creates a negative emotional climate for you.

It can be difficult to discover that even in conversation you have to deal with the discomfort that they are competing with you.⠀
⠀
Conversations for many with NPD is filled with going toward disagreement with you. ⠀
⠀
If it is a work environment you might even realize they are competing with you and doing all they can behind your back to diminish your worth (and they might not even be on your radar).⠀
⠀
In many situations it is important to them to feel like number one. They will chase it to prove to self and others that they are superior to you.⠀
⠀
It is uncomfortable to know that someone has that kind of relationship with you - because this can be even when there is no intimate relationship (or any relationship) with the narcissist. ⠀

They may hate you and attempt to demean you and you have never given their presence much thought.⠀

A part of what helps to give that image is their occupational or social success.⠀

In trying to tell you what it needs or its current health, it communicates through giving different sensations through emotions (positive/ negative) and changes that are felt within the body (e.g., rapid heartbeat, feeling of calm, anxiety, etc).⠀⠀⠀

One of the great things about therapy is that mental health professionals can teach you to be in tune with your emotional and physical self!⠀⠀
