An intimate relationship with a violating partner, lacking a conscience is a unique and often traumatizing experience. Individuals with such traits tend to victimize their romantic partners. Most who have been intimately involved with them report the aftermath is unlike any other relationship they have experienced. Pain, craving, and feeling out of control are not uncommon.
Many survivors are at significant risk when they attempt to exit the abusive relationship or merely demonstrate any power or control over their own lives. Some individuals are stalked, harassed, abruptly abandoned, and/ or targeted for retaliation or punishment purposes.
In the aftermath of relationships with psychopathic, antisocial, or narcissistic relationships the toll on the survivor is often profound. The terminated relationship tends to impact several areas of her life, such as safety, finances, emotions, health (mental & physical), occupational, and social. This experience typically far exceeds the heartbreak following the end of a ‘normal’ relationship.
In the above video we touch on a few obstacles within their relationships.
